About Me
Hello and welcome!
I’m Nora Robbins, music teacher and vocalist. Growing up in Walnut Creek, CA, I first learned to love music playing piano and singing with my father. From those early experiences I went on to study voice and perform with choirs and local musical theater productions. I even tried my hand at the flute for a few years. My musical journey continued through college, where I received my BM in vocal performance at University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA, where I studied piano and performed opera and musical theater. During this time, I studied abroad in Europe and won a concerto competition to sing with the orchestra at our conservatory graduation. I also began to teach my own voice students; adults, teens and children.
When I moved to NYC after college, I taught piano and voice lessons and directed for community choirs in the city. I felt I had found my calling in teaching and decided to pursue my Masters of Music Education with a focus on choral and vocal pedagogy at Teachers College, Columbia University. I graduated in 2013.
I’ve taught vocal and general music in public schools for the past 11 years, including three in Mt. Diablo, and the past two in Martinez. In that time, I taught music theory, creative movement, recorders, xylophones, ukuleles, choir, percussion and more! My time teaching in public education has been invaluable, but I’m excited to focus on a new adventure: my own private music studio.
My passion is teaching all ages and abilities how to make music a part of their lives. I love to work with students who are just discovering music and those who have already begun their studies and hope to continue challenging themselves. I hope I can help guide you on your life’s musical journey!

“Music is not just a skill, it is a way of life.”
