Voice Lessons
Everyone has a unique voice and my goal is to help you find yours. Whether you are preparing for an audition or looking to improve your vocal health, my knowledge in vocal technique and performance spans decades. An MA in vocal and choral pedagogy from Columbia University Teachers College has prepared me to work with all kinds of singers, from beginners looking to gain confidence, to vocal professionals looking for a fresh perspective on repertoire and pedagogy.
Are you looking for a safe place to explore your skills? We will explore vocal warmups, eclectic and appropriate repertoire and prepare for performance opportunities.
In my studio, I am dedicated to providing a welcoming space for all students, no matter their age, gender or sexual identity, racial or religious background, culture or ability level. I strive to create an inclusive space where all people can grow and create music that is meaningful and rewarding.
Piano Lessons
Piano practice is shown to improve cognitive function, mood and quality of life in both adults and children. Learning piano skills is a multi-sensory activity that not only enhances reading and mathematical abilities, but provides a creative musical outlet that can improve emotional well-being.
I teach musicians of all ages starting at age 5 and up. We focus on the basics of musicianship and piano theory as well as build up confidence in performance. Students will strengthen their knowledge in music theory through games, and explore their creativity through improvisation and composition.
Curriculum will be tailored to each students age, skill level and personal musical goals. My specialty is working with beginners of all ages who are learning to explore and practice piano for the first time.
Hybrid Music Lessons
Are you looking for a more comprehensive musical experience? Whether you are interested in both piano and voice lessons, or voice and music theory practice, book a full hour lesson to get it all in!
In a hybrid lesson, we will cover two topics in depth. Piano and voice hybrid lessons will include piano lessons, music theory and singing lessons. Students who are studying voice but would like some extra practice and knowledge in music theory and sight reading, may schedule a hybrid lesson that will cover vocal technique and an understanding of understanding and reading music.
Early Childhood music class - coming soon!
My most recent professional experience is working in the K-5 general education environment. Prior to working with school-aged children, I was trained in early childhood music education by Patricia St. John at Columbia University Teachers College. I fell in love with making music with little ones and have been practicing many of her theories in creativity and musical play with young people ever since.
In our group classes we will explore instruments, sing songs, and explore creative movement with props such as puppets, scarves and parachutes!
